A Classroom Without Walls

The outdoors is a classroom where Scouts can:

  • Use the skills they are mastering.
  • Solve problems as a team.
  • Look out for one another.
  • Learn self-discipline
  • Respect others and the environment.
  • Encounter situations that require them to become leaders.
  • Enjoy the beauty in nature.
  • Learn the value of leaving no trace in the wilderness.

Troop 288 has a monthly camping program with trips to various state parks and campsites. We make yearly trips to summer camp at Camp Constantin and Winter Camp at Camp Cherokee . We also have made trips to Florida Sea Base, Philmont Scout Ranch , Northern Tier High Adventure Base  and plan to make a trip to the new Summit Betchel Reserve this coming summer.
