Winter Camp 2014 Update!

Hello Troop 288 Parents!

We are now halfway thru winter camp and the boys are having a great time. The weather started off on a sour note with a cold,  windy rain that lasted most of the day on Sunday. This morning we woke up to freezing fog, but the clouds have parted and the sun is out and the temps have made it to a balmy 50 degrees.

The boys have spent the mornings working on merit badges and the afternoons playing ultimate frisbee among other games.

Mr Waller prepared a fine Lasagna Saturday night, King Ranch chicken last night and I will be cooking Jambalya tonight.

After dinner, the boys have spent quite a bit of time around the campfire telling stories and whatnot.

The adult leaders we are all having a great time. Our goal is to make sure the boys stay hydrated and warm.

Mr. Martinez has put together a conservation project for the boys that has been approved by the camp ranger. This will satisfy a major requirment for the camping merit badge. Additionally,  the boys have volunteered to keep the restrooms clean by our campsite. This includes cleaning, stocking paper, and taking out the trash. Cheerful Service! 😉

I will be posting some additional pictures later this evening!

YIS,

  1. A big Thanks to all the adults who made Winter Camp possible for Troop 288. I saw first-hand their dedication and hard work.
