Welcoming Scoutmaster Daniel Macinnis

Troop 288 has a new Scoutmaster, Daniel Macinnis

Mr. MacInnis has been involved in Scouting since 1984 when he was a Tiger Cub. He spent most of his Scouting career in the Watertown, MA area in the Minuteman Council, which merged and became the Boston Minuteman Council in 1993. During his time in Minuteman and Boston Minuteman Council he was able to achieve the rank of Life Scout with Troop 30. In addition to his Scout ranks, Mr. MacInnis spent 4 years working as a Counselor-In-Training and Staff member at Parker Mountain Scout Reservation in the Scout Skills area. He was a member of Troop 1305 for the 1993 National Scout Jamboree. It was the last Minuteman Council troop to attend.

In 1993 Mr. MacInnis moved to Buxton, ME where he joined Pine Tree Council Troop 346 and earned the rank of Eagle in 1996. He was the Assistant Director of Scout Skills for Camp William Hinds in Raymond, ME. Graduated from Bonny Eagle High School and in 1997 he moved to Kentucky for college and took some time away from the Scouting life. Mr. MacInnis earned an B.S. in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology with an Option of Protection Administration from Eastern Kentucky University in 2004.

In 2015 Mr. MacInnis transferred to Texas with his company and volunteered with the Circle Ten, Golden Arrow District in 2016 as a member of the district activities committee. Since 2016 Mr. MacInnis has been an active member of the District Committee holding a position as District Activities Committee Chair (2020-present), Cuboree Chair (2017-present), Unit Commissioner (2017-present) and Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner (2017-2018).

Outside of Scout Mr. MacInnis spent 15 years as a Firefighter/ EMT for both paid and volunteer departments in Maine and Kentucky. He favorite hobby is as a Living Historian with the 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders which portray Scottish Solders during World War One. He previously spent 16 years as a Civil War Living Historian focusing on the Western Theater.

Mr. MacInnis likes to incorporate his experiences as a firefighter and living historian into Scouting. These experiences show real life uses for Scout Skills and brings a new level of fun and learning. He hopes to bring these skills to Chisholm Trail and Troop 288. Including some of the original 1910 Boy Scout Handbook.
